You can do it in practice.
But under pressure?
That’s where dancing changes.
This intensive is focused on one thing:
can you keep your movement, clarity, and confidence when speed, nerves, and pressure hit?
Because if pressure changes your dancing…you don’t own it yet.
In this focused 2.5-hour intensive, we will work on:
• Control — balance, direction, stability under speed
• Clarity — visible movement, timing, projection
• Continuation — flow, recovery, confidence after mistakes
This is not about learning more choreography.
It’s about making your dancing hold together when it actually matters.
• feel different in practice vs performance
• lose control when things get fast or stressful
• know there is more in their dancing than what currently shows

An Evening of Beautiful Movement

Some people walk into a room… and naturally draw attention.
Not because they are louder.
Not because they are trying harder.
But because the way they move feels elegant, confident, soft, and effortless.
The beautiful thing is: movement like that can be learned.
⸻
In this special evening experience, we will explore the art of elegant movement through 4 beautiful ballroom dances:
• RUMBA — softness, body flow & feminine movement
• WALTZ — graceful posture & floating elegance
• FOXTROT — smooth confidence & sophisticated movement
• BOLERO — romantic flow & expressive movement
Throughout the evening, we will also work on:
• posture & projection
• graceful arm styling
• movement flow & continuation
• softness without weakness
• confidence through movement
• the small details that instantly change how movement looks and feels
⸻
This evening is designed for:
• social dancers wanting more elegance and confidence
• women wanting more graceful, feminine movement
• dancers wanting better flow, styling, and presence
• anyone wanting to feel more comfortable and expressive in their body
• anyone curious about ballroom dancing in a beautiful and welcoming environment
No partner needed.
And while no experience is required to enjoy the evening, this is not simply a “beginner class.”
It is an experience focused on movement, confidence, elegance, and the feeling ballroom dancing creates.
⸻
You do not need to become someone else to move beautifully.
Sometimes the elegance is already there.
It simply needs direction.

A strong foundation is the key to excellence in dance. This class is dedicated to refining the essential elements of Smooth and Ballroom technique, with a focus on frame, shaping, footwork, and movement quality. Through precise drills and guided exercises, dancers will develop balance, coordination, and the ability to move with grace and power. Whether you are looking to enhance your fundamentals or elevate your artistry, this class will help you achieve spacious, effortless movement while maintaining technical precision.
Ladies Styling: Confidence in dance begins with understanding and embracing how your body moves. This class is a dedicated space for women to explore the art of expression through arms, posture, and body coordination. Learn how to create fluid, elegant movement while building grace, strength, and poise—because when you love the way you move, confidence follows.
Solo Technique: A great dancer is a great partner. This class focuses on personal mastery—understanding the mechanics of movement, foot placement, and timing to enhance your overall dancing. Developing strong individual technique ensures that when the moment comes to dance with a partner, you are grounded, precise, and ready. Whether you’re preparing for competition or simply striving to improve, this class will help you build confidence in your movement and deepen your connection to the dance.
Latin dance is more than just technique—it’s about performance, presence, and musicality. This class takes dancers beyond the fundamentals, focusing on expressive movement, dynamic body action, and musical interpretation. You’ll refine your technique while learning how to bring personality and emotion into your dancing. Every step, every turn, and every movement will be shaped by rhythm, energy, and artistry, helping you build a compelling presence on the dance floor.
DC DanceSport Academy offers supervised practice Latin rounds for dancers and competitors on Thursdays. These rounds provide critical feedback for dancers and allow competitors to practice their routines, endurance, and floor craft.
